AMP Karting Membership FAQs
Atlanta Motorsports Park is a private motorsports country club with memberships for cars and motorcycles on the 2-mile road circuit or karts on the separate karting circuit. Karting members bring their own karts to practice during member only track days and times from our calendar linked below. A normal week will include Thursday, Friday, and alternating weekend days for karting.
How Membership Works
Your Gateway to Karting
From first-time drivers to seasoned racers, AMP’s Karting Membership gives you exclusive track access, and a community that lives for speed.
Our membership has a minimum age of 5 years old to use the course. There is no maximum age, and we have kart racers participating into their eighties. Any member under the age of 18 will need a parent or legal guardian to sign their membership agreement on their behalf.

- Monthly club races from March–October for all ages and skill levels.
From March to October, we host monthly club races including classes from kid karts to adults. Members receive a discount to sign up, and non-members that compete in karts can also join for race day. We recommend practicing, and hiring instructors to help get your lap times close to race pace before entering your first race event. This development typically takes 3-6 months after becoming a member, but will vary based on how much practice you are able to put in.

Membership Options & Pricing
All karting memberships are for one named member, and are not transferable. We offer discounts for families with multiple immediate members. The first member will join at full price, and the second, third, etc. receive the “Add On” discount. All karting memberships are non-transferable.
AMP also offers a Lifetime Karting membership option that does not have monthly or daily fees. If you plan to continue using the membership long term, it is a good option to consider for long term value. It is possible to upgrade from Standard to Lifetime membership later by using your original Initiation Fee amount as a discount towards the Lifetime membership initiation fee. We recommend making the decision to upgrade within the first year, because any monthly dues paid will not be credited towards the upgrade price.

For drivers looking to move toward membership and racing, we have a fleet of rental race karts (different from the concession rentals that have full bumpers and seatbelts). These are used as arrive and drive karts for group format Karting Schools, and private instruction sessions booked exclusively through eli@ampkartracing.com. Private instruction is priced at $275 per hour for lessons and driving.
Both schools and private lessons include the use of a helmet, driving suit, instructor, and go kart. When booking private lessons the driver’s age, height and weight are needed to match them with a kart and seat size. We recommend group schools for first time drivers, and one 2 hour private lesson to follow up. This gives drivers a chance to drive, learn what questions to ask, and then get tailored feedback from an instructor on what kart and engine is a good fit for them.
After those learning opportunities is the best time to invest in a personal kart that can be fitted to suit the driver. The earlier the investment is made, the more it will return on future rental costs.

AMP Kartwerks
AMP Kartwerks is the on-site karting parts and service shop located at Atlanta Motorsports Park (AMP) in Dawsonville, Georgia. It’s a key part of the comprehensive karting experience offered at AMP and is a licensed BirelART kart dealer for all classes of karts and engines.
Whether you are shopping for a new or used kart, AMP Kartwerks is a great resource to start with solid equipment and parts availability to support your progress. If you need mechanical help, the service shop is available for everything from tire mounting and bolt checks, to full overhauls and reconditioning.

Kart Classes
Race Kart Types
When looking at karting classes, you will notice the Chassis and Engine combination determine the classes. From Smallest to Largest the chassis types are Kid Kart, Cadet, and Standard (Adult).
The engines available range in displacement (cc), and type. Four Stroke engines will provide a lower maintenance experience, and use 93 octane fuel straight from our fuel station. Two Stroke engines deliver roughly double the power but require more tuning, maintenance, and race fuel with oil mixed in. For these reasons, we typically recommend a four stroke engine for new karters learning the ropes and starting in the sport. Drivers with prior experience in race cars or extreme sports often prefer to start with a more powerful two stroke engine.
Kid Kart Classes
The smallest racing chassis available are Kid Karts, with two engine choices to pick between.
Kid Kart races are non-points classes in the championship, meaning they are exhibitions to host practice, qualifying, and final sessions for our youngest racers. They will still be officiated as normal classes with the goal to create a positive, family-focused environment where kids can build skills, confidence, and a love for the sport.
Cadet Kart Classes
The next size up from Kid Kart is a Cadet chassis. This is the in-between before moving up to a standard kart, and has adjustability for pedals and seat mounting.
Standard Chassis Classes
The standard chassis, or adult “full size” has the most options for engine class. LO206 is the four stroke package with different weight and age limits by class. KA100 and X30 single speed two stroke engines are popular, and for the 15+ drivers shifter karts are an option and utilize front brakes and six speed transmissions.

Kart Setup
Kart fitting and setup are important elements of driving and performing well. Like shopping for a pair of running shoes, each driver will have a seat size that fits them comfortably. The seat, pedals, and steering wheel are all fixed in place to fit the driver. We do our best to accommodate drivers with our rental fleet, but perfecting this is one of the biggest advantages to owning.
As drivers gain skill and speed, the handling of the kart is frequently adjusted with alignment, front and rear track width, and adding or removing ballast weight to meet weight requirements. All of these changes incrementally make the kart respond differently to inputs, and aim to suit the driver’s preference and driving style. The end goal is predictable handing, and high grip.
Most drivers and parents will quickly pick up on the essential maintenance for karting. Compared to cars, they are simpler and easier to access. Basic preparation before hitting the
track includes lubricating the chain and bearings, checking for loose bolts, adding fuel to the tank, and setting tire pressures. For questions about maintenance or more in depth service, we recommend talking to the staff with AMP Kartwerks to learn more.
Member Perks
Kart Storage and Garage Leasing
Rental garages are available at the karting track for members to lease at $400/month. If none are available, we manage a waiting list for the next vacancies. Individual karts can also be stored with our proshop, AMP Kartwerks for $85/month with $20 racking/unracking fees when driving, or with concierge mechanic preparation for ~$90.
