Luxetips Automobiles! Drive a Ferrari, Lamborghini or Race a Real Race Car at Atlanta Motorsports Park
Tell someone you love them today!
Earlier this week, I fulfilled one of my life dreams. I raced a real race car on a real race track! Done and done.
Atlanta Motorsports Park’s tag line is “The Country Club for people who live in the Fast Lane.” How appropriate. This state of the art facility boasts a 2 mile long 35-40 fit wide track with aggressive elevation changes, Formula 1 (yeah!) style curbing, rumble strips and over 6 course configurations. Guests can take a luxury car like a Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, or Nissan GTR around the track for a couple of laps. Or if you are a seeking a little more adventure and want the ride of your life, you can drive a real sports car, an Ariel Atom, around the track and live the life of a Formula 1 Race Star. Hot.
Atlanta Motorsports Park is located about 50 miles north of Atlanta in Dawsonville, GA. It is housed in the rolling foothills of the Georgia Mountains and once you get to the Atlanta Motorsports Park, the view is quite amazing.
When I arrived, Jeremy Porter, the visionary, founder and CEO of Atlanta Motorsports Park, gave me a detailed picture of the uniqueness of the facility. Jeremy wanted a fun and exciting place where families and friends can enjoy the hobby of racing together. And Jeremy is remaining true to his vision: Check out some of the current and future amenities offered at Atlanta Motorsports Park:
- The Clubhouse with a fitness center, spa, playroom for luxe kids, meeting rooms, humidor and wine cellar;
- Full service pool that will include a fire pit, spa, swim up pool bar, zero entry for small luxe kids;
- Luxe kids playground with mini-race track with small race cars around the perimeter of the playground….for the future racers of course;
But let’s get to the driving and racing experience. Of course you know I had to hop in a car or two. And I tell you Divas, it is a day I will never forget!
My first experience was in a exotic luxury sports car. This driving experience is run by Velocity Motorsports and Evan, the CEO, of Velocity Motorsports, personally took me on the drive of a lifetime in a Nissan GTR. Talk about powerful. This car is a beast! What was it like? I screamed the entire time. Evan took the car to about 150 mph and through various dips and turns and I felt like I was flying. If you are a speed junkie, then this is definitely for you.
Velocity Motorsports has a package where you can take a luxury sports car around the track for several laps with a professional driver. The package contains: a 30 minute course with an industry-leading instructor educating you on how to drive your luxury sports car to the limit and you actually driving the vehicle around the track at an optimum speed for the best performance. You can even elect to drive several different cars around the track. It is your choice. Prices start at $299 for 5 laps. It is so worth it!
Now if you want to experience a real sports car and drive like you are a Formula 1 race superstar, then you have to do the Ariel Atom experience. Ariel Atoms are race cars equipped with Honda K-Series (you race folks know about this) engines with a 6-speed transmission. You can race this baby around the track and experience the sheer thrill and exhilaration of a 700 horsepower vehicle that is light as a feather. It is an open race car, so the ride is a true joy! Wind, wind, and more wind.
Of course I was game and hopped right in. It was one of the most exciting things I have ever done in my life! I am definitely going back for round two! The Ariel Atom Experience includes: Three 15 minute sessions, introductory classroom sessions on performance driving and safety; well planned lead/follow sessions behind pace car. The price for a half day session is $525.00 per person.
The Velocity Motorsports and Ariel Atom Experience at Atlanta Motorsportspark is a perfect gift for your significant other; a gift to yourself; or a great corporate team building experience. Ladies what I will say is come dressed to race. I had one a dress with leggings underneath and sandals. Wrong answer. My dress kept flying up (thank Goodness I had on leggings) and sandals in a race car is a no no. Plus I had to keep hiking up my legs to jump in and out of cars. The right attire is jeans, leggings, comfy tee, and flat boots. Maybe a racing leather jacket, but that’s it.
Atlanta Motorsports Park is a hidden but unique gem in the Atlanta area. And here is another tidbit, it was designed by famed Formula 1 Track Architect Hermann Tike. So this is the real deal!
