After numerous discussions over which direction to take the 2017 Edition of the AMP Kart Championship Series, the team at Atlanta Motorsports Park is proud to officially announce MG Tires as the Official Tire for the 2017 Championship. We have spent a lot of time, effort, and research in trying to weigh the pros and cons of all of our options for the coming year, and while we have greatly appreciated the support that Hoosier tire has given us over the past two years, we believe that this change will not only be beneficial to our own racers, but to the southeastern region and karting as a whole.
Transition Plan
While we do believe that the added time and deliberation on this subject was necessary, it did significantly delay this announcement. For that, we are going to allow all drivers to continue to run the model of Hoosier tire specific to their class until May 1st, 2017. This means that for Rounds 1 & 2 of the 2017 Kart Championship Series, the specified model for both MG tires and Hoosier tires will be allowed in the specified class.
