January Karting Race Report

Lo206 Cadet and Junior Final:

Olivier Piatek (Junior) started on pole ahead of Spencer Mast (Junior), Braden Heber (Junior), and Joseph Saddington (Cadet). Mast dropped to 13th on the opening lap allowing Piatek to lead the race with a small gap in the opening laps. Luke DaCosta (Junior) gained three positions on the opening lap to take second place. DaCosta tried to make a move for the lead at turn two but came off worse and dropped to third while Heber inherited second and Alyssa Vascocu (Junior) slotted into third.

With eight laps to go Vascocu spins at the bottom of turn two allowing DaCosta back through into the podium places. On the same lap, Piatek and Heber made contact as they battled for the lead and both drivers drop to sixth and seventh. DaCosta inherits the lead with Saddington behind but Piatek wastes no time in catching back up to the leaders and on the very next lap he recovered to third.

With a four-second gap between Piatek and the leaders, he began gaining on them by over a second a lap. With four laps remaining Piatek was right on the back of Saddington, passing him for second into turn nine and then passing DaCosta through the esses on the same lap.

While the leaders swapped positions, Mast was also on the charge and came back to finish second following his lap one incident. Piatek cruised to the finish for the final three laps to take the victory ahead of Mast with Saddington rounding out the podium.

TaG Senior and Master Final:

Daniel Perez (Senior) started on pole with Jason Leslie (Senior) in second. Leslie temporarily took the lead on lap one but Perez managed to retake it before the end of lap one. He began to slowly open up a gap until a red flag halted the race and bunched the field back up. Perez continued to lead once the race resumed and won the race leading every lap.

Leslie finished second as Matheus Prates (Senior) finished third overall after passing George Zarragotia (Master) on the penultimate lap.

TaG Rookie Final:

Bowen Greene started on pole ahead of Luke Giglio, Ben Bagwell, Kai Mars, and Parker Ives. Mars jumped from third to first on the opening lap while Giglio dropped to fourth. On lap three Bagwell took the lead from Mars and never looked back, leading the rest of the race. Giglio recovered and passed Mars with three to go to take second place.

KA100 Senior and Junior Final:

Raiden Nicol (Senior) started the race on pole but lost the lead at turn one to Zack Frank (Senior). On lap two, Nicol retook the lead and rapidly extended his lead for the rest of the race, finishing 13 seconds ahead of Frank. Spencer Lofton finished third, another seven seconds behind Frank.

In the Junior class, Spencer Mast passed Piatek on the final lap and hung on to take the win by a tenth of a second.

Lo206 Senior Final:

Nicholas Lefferdo started on pole, and was able to get out to a big lead on lap one thanks to battles behind. Steve Roberts started 11th and gained 10 positions on the opening two laps before challenging Lefferdo for the lead. Roberts took the lead momentarily but was forced to retire just one lap after taking the lead.

This allowed the battle for second to heat up as Carter Sperrazza battled with Danny May for the final three laps of the race. May was able to snatch second on the line thanks to a slightly better exit out of the final corner to beat Sperrazza by less than a tenth.
