As the business continues to grow, Atlanta Motorsports Park Karting was in need of some fresh faces to help man it’s unique pro kart circuit. In came Jessica Zagarella, a former Skip Barber Racing School race director and scheduling coordinator, to fill the role of assistant general manager at the kart track. After years of working car racing, Jessica is ready to jump into the world of karting.  We chatted with Jessica about her transition from cars to karts and how she knew she wanted to work for Atlanta Motorsports Park.

How did you find out about AMP?

I came up here for an event in February and fell in love with the facility. I thought “oh wow this place is amazing and I want to be a part of that.” I reached out to the managers, they interviewed me and then created this position for me.

Tell us more about your new position and what you hope to accomplish.

I will be focusing on getting members more involved and increasing our membership enrollment. I will also use my background at Skip Barber Racing to take over as race director for the kart track.

What are you looking forward to most about working here?

I am looking forward to getting more involved in the races, seeing how they work and what we can do to make them more efficient.

What about the transition from cars to karts? Has that been challenging?

I worked with Skip Barber for two years, so I have been around cars longer than karts. I’m excited to learn something new. It’s been interesting and it’s definitely different. Most racers come from karting though, so it’s nice to be able to experience where a lot of people get there start.

Is there anything you have learned about the kart track so far that people might not already know?

Well I am still learning, but there are really great people here! The atmosphere is fun and it’s just a great environment.
